The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises represent the most comprehensive international standard for Responsible Business Conduct.

The Guidelines are negotiated multilaterally, approved by governments, and are based on a unique implementation mechanism, represented by the National Contact Points (NCPs), which work to enforce the recommendations proposed by the OECD.

Since the introduction of the Guidelines in 1976, they have been continuously updated to remain relevant in light of the challenges societies face and the evolving context of international business. The latest update of the Guidelines occurred this year, reflecting a decade of experience since the last revision in 2011, and addressing urgent social, environmental, and technological priorities that businesses and societies are facing.
