The evolution of sustainability over the past two years has been extremely accelerated, leading to a significant increase in the number, size, and intensity of sustainability topics present in our lives, regardless of the field in which we operate.

Thus, new regulations, new concepts, new expectations, and requirements are transforming into future decision-making criteria both on a personal and professional level. In the years to come, knowledge and skills related to sustainability will become indispensable, just as computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced English proficiency are today.

The Sustainability Scale is a tool that allows companies to achieve sustainability in business while maintaining profitability, meet non-financial reporting legal requirements, and even surpass them, identify and manage various types of impact, risks, and opportunities, and generate value for stakeholders.

The discussion in the webinar was structured in two parts:

Part I (at the organizational level) – The Sustainability Scale: What it is, the specific indicators for each level, how organizations progress from one level to another; Part II (at the individual level) – Competencies and training resources in the field of sustainability.

By attending this webinar, you will learn about:

  • Planetary Limits: Our planet is struggling to sustain current resource demands and pollution levels. Key areas include climate change, biodiversity, freshwater resources, and biochemical flows;

  • Paris Agreement and European Green Deal: Goals include keeping global warming below 2°C, ideally 1.5°C, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, along with economic growth decoupled from resource use;

  • Scara Sustenabilității (Sustainability Ladder): A model with five stages of sustainability development: Beginner (Newborn): Initial awareness, Discovery (Child): Understanding sustainability impacts, Rebellion (Adolescent): Challenging norms and adapting behaviors, Maturity (Adult): Implementing sustainable practices, Mentorship (Senior): Leading and teaching others about sustainability;

  • Individual Actions: Increase knowledge about environmental impact (climate change, carbon terminology) and adapt consumption choices to be more sustainable;

  • Professional Actions: Familiarize with sustainable business principles and align company goals with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);

  • Avoiding Greenwashing: Real sustainability requires integration into the core business strategy, budget allocation, and transparency in reports. Stakeholders should assess if a company’s sustainability claims align with its operations;

  • Corporate Responsibility Evolution: Moving from “do no harm” to “regenerative corporations,” which create positive environmental and societal impacts, moving beyond shareholder to stakeholder value;
