In recent years, a major shift in attitude towards sustainability can be observed. The increasing focus of investors on the three indicators (environment, society, and governance), emerging climate change legislation, as well as social justice, provide strong calls to action. Currently, society expects sustainability professionals to carry out their work within the context of numerous social and environmental issues, which are constantly changing, but also to manage a range of often conflicting opinions from various stakeholder categories. But what does this mean in concrete terms for sustainability professionals within companies, and what skills or competencies do they need to navigate this constantly changing global landscape?

By attending this webinar, you will learn about:

  • Role of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS): ICRS is the UK’s professional body for CRS, focused on building competencies, sharing best practices, and supporting those in the sustainability profession;

  • Emerging Trends in CRS: Post-pandemic, there’s a stronger emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, stakeholder capitalism, supply chain resilience, and sustainable consumption;

  • Making the Business Case for Sustainability: Sustainability drives resilience, manages risks, and creates value across various stakeholder groups, including employees, investors, and customers, and supports cost reduction and ESG alignment;

  • Developing a CRS Strategy: Effective CRS strategies involve stakeholder engagement, setting priorities based on materiality, identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and measuring and reporting impact;

  • ICRS Competency Framework: The framework aids professionals in assessing and developing skills, supporting employers in recruitment and training, and providing a reference for educational programs and CRS roles;

  • CRS Skill Development: Skills development in CRS involves understanding core competencies, networking, volunteering, mentorship, and embedding CRS in business strategy, especially within leadership roles;

  • Challenges and Priorities in CRS: Addressing issues such as biodiversity, air quality, net-zero goals, and tackling inequalities requires businesses to adapt, innovate, and foster stakeholder collaboration;

  • Importance of Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with stakeholders is essential for understanding shifting priorities and incorporating diverse perspectives into sustainability efforts;
