SUSTAINABILITY SCHOOL #20 - The Race to Net Zero: How do we win it?

Description

Following the Paris Agreement, world governments committed to limiting global temperature increases to a maximum of 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Many governments of developed countries, including those of the European Union Member States, have pledged to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Major Fortune 500 companies have followed suit, joining the race to net zero and forming the largest global alliance in the global economy determined to reach climate neutrality by 2050.

But what is climate neutrality, and how is the concept of net zero measured? Climate neutrality refers to balancing emissions through investments in absorption actions, a method known as “offsetting.” Companies that cannot immediately modernize their operations to reduce emissions to zero can now use various offsetting mechanisms, starting the gradual process of eliminating emissions.
