The session is based on insights from the Forvis Mazars Barometer 2024, which highlights the growing importance of sustainability responsibilities as companies expand globally and face increasingly complex regulations.

C-level executives are determined to address these challenges, with previously underestimated reporting areas now receiving greater attention and budgets increasing to support the demand for specialized expertise.

Additionally, the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) set higher expectations for reporting, emphasizing internal governance structures, board awareness of sustainability issues relevant to the companies they oversee, and alignment between sustainability goals and performance evaluation objectives. Overall, companies have made stronger commitments to sustainability, and the wave of sustainability expectations continues to rise in the business world. Nearly three-quarters (71%) of surveyed organizations are producing a sustainability report, and an increasing number are integrating sustainability into budget planning (72%) – the highest levels recorded to date in Mazars’ annual analysis.
